What size AC unit do you need?

Just did a 3700 square foot house with only one HVAC system. Nice new Bryant heat pump.

It had a 4 ton unit, 48,000 BTU/hr equals 4 tons of ice melting heat removed from the house per day.

This is from DOE.

VA is in zone 3 so we need more than 5 tons, or two units equaling about 6 tons.
