Just visited Gari Melchers' home in Fredericksburg. He was active at the beginning of the last century. He changed his style to more impressionist. But he got $6000 per large portrait: equivalent to $92,000 today. Saw some adjustment even tons of money couldn't perfect.
He painted this young woman 12 different times to get to this one!
