In my water pipes I would attach these to my washing machine supplies. Finally gave up on my front opening washing machine with a bum door and a door switch that I replaced. Got a Maytag upright model. New houses have these installed but we with old homes can just screw these on to the supply spigots as shown below. Click on top image for link.
